THE ART OF AKHENATEN AND NEFERTITI – ANCIENT EGYPT’S UNIQUE ROYAL COUPLE

Akhenaten (c1363 – c1336 BC) is probably the most controversial of all the Egyptian pharaohs. He replaced the traditional polytheistic religion with the worship of one solar deity, and the art of his era is unlike that of any other pharaoh’s reign. His wife was Nefertiti, arguably the most famous queen of pharaonic Egypt. Together they continue to
fascinate.
Lucia is an Egyptologist who has worked in museums and on excavations in Egypt, but these days mostly lectures. She now works at the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology in London and leads tours to Egypt. Her publications include ‘Egypt: Gods, Myths, Religion’ (2016).
